Stay informed with Drive Croydon and build your confidence through personalised, two-hour automatic driving lessons with supportive female instructors.
DVSA driving test swaps: what changes from 1 October 2026?
From 1 October 2026, DVSA is changing how two learner drivers can swap their driving tests. Drive Croydon keeps you informed about the updates that matter to your test preparation.
First learner: request the swap
The first learner calls DVSA to request a swap with the other learner.
Second learner: confirm
The second learner then calls DVSA to confirm they agree to the swap.
Both calls must happen on the same working day
DVSA can only process the swap if both learners call on the same working day.
Previously, both learners needed to be available at the same time. You can now call separately, provided both calls take place on the same working day.
Before arranging a swap, check with your driving instructor that they and the car are available for your proposed test date.

Automatic driving lessons in Croydon: focus on the road
Looking for automatic driving lessons in Croydon? Learning in an automatic car removes the need to operate a clutch and change gears manually. This can help you focus on observation, road positioning, planning and responding safely to traffic.
At Drive Croydon, we build these skills step by step. Whether you are starting from scratch or returning to lessons after a break, we adapt your learning programme to your experience, pace and confidence.
Our lessons last 2 hours, giving you time to settle in, practise new skills and revisit areas that need more attention. We use that time purposefully, with clear explanations, practical exercises and feedback you can understand.
A boutique Croydon driving school with female instructors
Drive Croydon is a small, boutique driving school in Croydon run by female driving instructors Sylwia and Anna. Our size allows us to give each learner personal attention throughout their learning journey.
If you are searching for a driving instructor in Croydon who listens, explains calmly and takes your concerns seriously, our approach is built around those needs.
We get to know how you learn best. You may prefer to see a demonstration first, talk through a manoeuvre or repeat an exercise until it feels more familiar. We adjust our teaching to help you understand what to do, why it matters and how to apply it independently.
Nervous about driving? You can tell us
You do not need to hide your worries before your first lesson. Perhaps busy junctions feel overwhelming, you worry about making mistakes or a previous experience has left you unsure about learning again.
At Drive Croydon, you can share those concerns openly with your instructor. Together, we identify what feels difficult and work on it through manageable steps, patient explanations and focused practice.
Our friendly atmosphere gives you space to ask questions and learn from mistakes. We help you build confidence through experience, progressing towards more demanding situations as your skills develop.
Support from your first lesson to driving test preparation
Our commitment is to support you throughout the learning process. We help you recognise your progress, understand what still needs practice and prepare for the practical test with a clear plan.
Your programme covers more than individual manoeuvres. We work on observation, decision-making, independent driving and the habits that support safe driving beyond the test.
Learners who have successfully completed their driving journey with us value our patient teaching and individual approach. Their feedback reflects what matters to Drive Croydon: effective practice, clear communication and a supportive relationship with your instructor.
If you expect focused automatic driving tuition in Croydon, with room to discuss your worries and work through them, Drive Croydon could be the right choice for you.
